Avoiding Burnout
What is burnout?
We all have those days...the alarm goes off and we just want to pull the covers over our heads and go back to sleep. Most of the time we get over it, pick ourselves up (with the help of coffee and a shower), and make it in for another productive day. After all, there are people counting on us to grade papers, conduct research, provide support and countless other tasks.
But if the constant stress of numerous responsibilities have you feeling overwhelmed, helpless and completely worn out, you might be suffering from burnout.
Burnout is a state of emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. It occurs when you feel overwhelmed and unable to meet constant demands.
